The use of a plenum box is necessary to create sufficient mixing of air and uniform distribution of air along the length. Plenum boxes are installed along the high length, with round inlets at intervals of up to 1/2 meter behind the linear valve.

Plenum boxes, which are a type of air distribution diffuser, are produced with different thicknesses of galvanized sheet and installed behind linear bar grilles. Plenums play the role of an intermediary between the main line of the air duct and the linear bar grille. Furthermore, the main feature of this tool is to create homogeneous and equal pressure along the entire length of the diffuser, so that the same amount of air comes out from all points along the length of the linear bar grille and the air outlet speed is the same along the entire length of the grille.

Usually, the plenums are placed together in one-meter pieces along the desired line to install the linear bar grille. The way it works is that the grille is installed on them in an integrated manner. Another advantage of using this product is the ability to install linear bar grilles without using screws.

The opening dimensions of plenum boxes are selected according to the dimensions behind the linear slot diffusers.

The number and dimensions of the air inlet collar are designed according to the volume of air passing through the plenum and the ventilation design of the linear bar grilles. It should be noted that thermal insulation should be used in plenum boxes in situations where there is a possibility of condensation and perspiration of air humidity on the surface of the plenum.

Insulation and plenum box installation

At Shahrokhi Technical Institute, different insulations such as polyurethane insulations, elastomeric foams, metalized foams, etc. are used to insulate the plenum box.

The most likely place to cause distillation is the air intake. However, insulating this surface is not enough because according to the temperature of the ventilated air and the temperature under the ceiling (where the plenum is installed), there is a possibility of distillation in all aspects of the plenum.

Plenum insulation is usually insulated from the inside by coated insulation (so that the insulation does not come into contact with passing air). Due to the limitation of the thickness of the insulation installed inside the plenum, in areas where the air humidity is very high, insulation is done on it.

It is worth mentioning that the installation of industrial dampers and plenum boxes can be done in different ways.

Plenum box installation:

Installation on a metal chassis

Installation of dry false ceilings on the structure (Drywall access doors, etc.)

Installation by supporting from the ceiling (earrings for connecting support rods can be installed during production at the factory.)

Technical Information:

Installation location: behind all types of diffusers

Material: Galvanized

Attributes:

Since linear slot diffusers are used decoratively, at high lengths and there is no possibility of uniform ventilation along the upper length of the diffuser, it is necessary to use a plenum box in order to create sufficient mixing of air and uniform distribution of air along the length. Moreover, plenum boxes are usually installed at high lengths with round inlets at intervals of up to 1/2 meter behind linear bar grilles.
